Trip Itinerary

February 2nd-February 4th: We have a few days in Miami before our cruise starts. We’re probably going to meet up with some friends and just relax on the beach with my sister and her boyfriend who’s coming to Miami too.

February 5th-February 12th: The Cayamo cruise is basically a boat full of music-lovers and artists. 125 gigs in a week. Here’s the line up. And, most importantly, our friends in the fantastic band Aurora Belle (p.k.a. Girl Parts) is playing on Cayamo this year. Check out their Facebook and Twitter page! The cruise starts off in Miami and stops in Cayo Levantado, Dominican Republic; St. Maarten and St. Barthelemy and then heads back to Miami.

February 12th-February 20th: In Washington D.C. we’re visiting our friend Rebecca. (Thank you, Becca, for letting us stay at your place!) We got tickets for Gregory Alan Isakov a couple of weeks ago, which makes me squeak every time I think about it, because he’s probably one of my favorite artists. And Frida got tickets for a Jon Anderson concert in Pennsylvania, so she’s heading off for a day or two to see him.

February 21th-February 26th: We’ll probably stay a couple of nights in Joburg, South Africa, before heading for Durban on the east coast to meet up with my friend Carla. We’ll stay in Durban for a few days and hopefully we’ll be able to travel through Lesotho on our way back to Joburg.

February 27th-Mars 28th: We’ve booked a trip with a company called African Trails. It’s going to take us 28 days to travel from Joburg to Nairobi. With about 30 others on a terrain vehicle we’re going to camp out in the bush when not in bigger cities. So sum it up - we’ll be traveling through: South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania and Kenya. We’re really looking forward to a two-day camping trip in the Okavango Delta in Botswana, swimming in Lake Malawi, snorkeling and diving on Zanzibar and seeing the wildlife along the way.

Mars 29th-April 23rd: After spending a few hours on the airport in Doha, Qatar, Frida is going home to Stockholm for a few days to meet up with her brother. They’ll fly to Singapore a few days after I get there and we’ll meet up with her family who lives in Singapore. During April we’ll probably be traveling to Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. This is the part of the trip where Frida and I say goodbye to each other. After Singapore and Southeast Asia she’s heading home and I continue the trip and fly to Sydney, Australia.

April 24th-June 20th: In Sydney I’ll visit some friends I met in Central America in 2008. I’m really looking forward to meeting them again and I’m so greatful that Jamie is letting me stay with him and his girlfriend Holly for a while. I’ll probably try to head down to Melbourne and visit a friend there, maybe going up to Brisbane to see a friend there too, maybe flying over to see some friends in New Zealand … We’ll see what happens.

June 20st-August 7th: I’m landing in Los Angeles and from there I’ll head north to visit friends and some of my mother’s cousins along the way. In Seattle I’ll attend a family picnic with my cousin from Sweden who’s hopefully coming over for a week or so.
